Çukurova İnşaat Makinaları (Çimsataş) was founded in 1972 for the manufacturing of heavy duty construction machinery and its wearing parts. The company is now the sole producer of hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders in Turkey and has dominated the market from 1980 to 1994 with the Caterpillar brand, so it has continued to do so following its Transfer of Technology Agreement with Liebherr Industrieanlagen AG of Switzerland in 1994.
In addition to that Çimsataş  also serves as a major supplier to the automotive industry. i.e. forgings, castings and machined parts. 

Since 1992 Çimsataş is licensed by Lucas HDBS and continued with Arvin Meritor of the UK to produce heavy-duty brake systems.
In the past years the Çimsataş has invested a total of € 14 million in its forge-shop, foundry, and parts production plant.  Consequently, the overall production capacity of the forge-shop has increased to 13,000 tons per year and that of the foundry has risen to 8,500 tons per annum.  Beyond this, a further investment of € 3 million has raised the capacity of the machining and heat treatment facilities for the parts production plant, enabling Çimsataş to meet the highest quality standards in the industry.  Hence, the Company is also better equipped to supply the rising demand for high quality components to the automotive industries. Çimsataş is planned to increase its forging capacity to 20,000 ton per year at the end of 2006.

As evidence of high quality management systems and investments made over the years, the BVQI (Bureau Veritas Quality International) audited Çimsataş in 1994 and determined that the Company’s Quality Management System was in conformance with EN ISO 9002:1994 Quality Standards. The company was consequently awarded Quality Management System Certificates approved by DAR/TGA of Germany and RCV of the Netherlands. In 1999, the ISO 9002 Certificate was replaced by the ISO 9001 Certificate, which covers  additional design control activities.

In 2000, Çimsataş was qualified for the QS-9000 Quality Systems Requirements and in 2003 it  was given the ISO/TS 16949 Quality Management System Certificate. In 2005, the company continued to improve employees standard and  received the  certificate of  OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series. It is anticipated that the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certificate and SA 8000 Social Accountability Management System Certificate will be  received.

Çimsataş has gained the “Best Supplier Award” by Automotive Industrialists Association (OSD) in 2000.
