OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES AND GREEN INVESTMENTS

As Çimsataş, the fact that our industry is among the facilities with environmental impacts in the heavy industry and it significantly increases our responsibility and sensitivity.

In this process, we ensure the follow-up of EIA, Environmental Permit, Environmental Management System Documents at the maximum level by providing all the legal requirements that we need to meet in terms of environment. In addition, developing new policies, following new generation environmental technologies, integrating changing and developing systems into our production areas are among our main goals in this rapidly developing industry period. We can summarize our work in this context as follows:

> In our factory, an Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant with a capacity of 35 m³/day was built and commissioned in order to treat the wastewater generated in the production areas. In addition to the savings in waste reduction and disposal costs, approximately 100 tons of wastewater is treated monthly to obtain water for other purposes.

> Zero Waste Certificate was obtained for the offices of our factory and Zero Waste Practice was started. In this way, we ensure that the packaging wastes are turned into a resource by ensuring the waste separation to the maximum extent.

> Instead of shipping our products abroad with wooden cases, reusable, foldable wooden frames have started to be used. Thus, high rates of waste reduction have been achieved.

> 80% of the amount of foundry sand we use in the foundry is recovered by the thermal reclaiming system. With the established chromite sand separation system, 90% of the amount of chromite sand is returned to the system. Thus, our raw material inputs are significantly reduced, and we also provide economic and environmental benefits to our ecosystem by protecting our natural resources.

> While designing production processes and making investments, environmental emissions are taken under control by targeting minimum waste.

> Mersin Environment Award Contest program was organized under the title of "Making a Difference in Industry" among Mersin region companies. Waste management, water/wastewater management, air emission and noise management, energy and natural resource management, social responsibility and good practice examples of factories were evaluated on a process basis in the competition, which was held in order to increase environmental awareness in the business world and to spread good practice examples. Our factory was awarded the third prize in the category called "Large-Scale Enterprises".
